Inspired by his grandmother’s boarding‐house guests—legends like Fats Domino—and his first church performance at age 7, Cunningham cut his teeth fronting the band Daybreak before lending vocals and songwriting to acts such as Duice and Cameo.
After earning a BA in criminal justice and serving with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Department, he published You Be the Judge (2002). His solo debut, Hell at the House (2003), peaked at No. 53 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. He followed with
